Marine Comando Six was a group of 30 Confed assault marines, men and women, led by Winston Turner, a rising star in Special Ops. When terrorists were set to douse a planet with Anthrax derivative C, they went on a classified mission against the stronghold. During the mission Turner was surrounded by a dozen doped-out terrorists screaming that they were going to kill him, and even then he showed his remarkable ability to appear outwardly calm. Both he and Spencer Banbridge suffered a near fatal shot and their lives were saved by Sergeant Ulandi who pulled them out.

The mission was successful with glowing reports, but also fateful and only half a dozen survived. As the mission was cassified, the deaths were listed as training accidents. An admiralty board had vindicated Turner and secretly decorated him and Bandbridge with the Fleet Cross for saving the planet. Turner however blamed himself for the loss of the team and didn't lead another combat unit, asking instead for transfer out, beginning his academic career. Turner kept a 3d photograph of the team, in camouflage and full battle gear, in his office.[1]
