The Lazarus was a ship of the Landreich owned by Hans Kruger. It was formerly the Phantom owned by smuggler Kevin Milady.

Description[]

Kruger upgraded the ship to become more durable, and more likely to survive encounters with the Kilrathi. An extra half inch of durasteel was laminated onto the pressurized hull, and added a quad auto-tracking laser in a retractable belly. He installed an outdated Reverberator 3000 C series engine (the E series was current as of 2634) and had a complete overhaul of the jump engine.

As such it was heavier, and had less cargo capacity than previously, even with the new engine. Kruger however believed that doing more routes and returning safely was more important.

The engines demanded to be switched over at least every 8 hours in order to have a quick pop off. If they sit cold for more than a day, they take a longer time to heat up.[1]

History[]

After a lethal encounter with the Kilrathi that damaged the Phantom seriously, sole survivor Hans Kruger brought it back to the Hell Hole for repairs. With bribes, he altered the registration numbers and titles, and renamed the ship, under his ownership, according to the local government. Not forgetting what the Kilrathi can do, Kruger also upgraded the ship so that it could ensure his survival in space, even if that meant less cargo capacity.[2]
