The KF-402 Krant is a medium fighter/bomber serving the Empire of Kilrah.
History[]
The Krant was in use by the Empire before the Terran-Kilrathi War. It had limited usage, designed for capital ship defense before meson shielding was available. With the development of meson shielding, capital ships became immune to a regular missile and Krant was adapted to become a dive-bomber, delivering a pair of antimatter torpedoes against a Terran Confederation meson-shielded capship and became the Empire's primary anti-capship asset, along with long-range strategic missiles.[1]

The Krant is more heavily defended but less maneuverable than a Dralthi. As such it is incapable for dogfighting. It provides 4 mounts for missiles (assault) or torpedoes (defensive operation).[1]
Although it has no jump-capable drive, the Krants at some circumstances are mounted with a one-use jump drive for suicide missions against Confed targets.[1]
They possess the same targeting and tractor systems as the Dralthis, and life support systems for 15 hours autonomy.[1]
