Gwynedd is a star system in the Enigma Sector and for the most part of the Terran-Kilrathi War, far from the front lines. Insystems Security mainained the Caernarvon Station manned by reservists.
Christopher Blair and Elizabeth Norwood flew P-64C Ferrets many boring and uneventful patrols in the system, however in the later part the conditions changed.
- During one patrol Maverick and Shadow encountered for the first time Sarthas and Drakhris.[1]
- The TCS Concordia and TCS Beowulf were pursued by a Fralthra-class into the system. Maverick and Shadow assisted by fending off the Sarthas attacking the surviving Concordia and they landed on the dreadnought.[2]
- The next day, Maverick and Shadow assisted Gold Wing (Kilroy and Primetime in A-17D Broadswords) in an attack against the Fralthra, fighting off Drakhai Sarthas and an ambush of Jalkehis.[3]
- Maverick and Shadow returned to Caernarvon only to receive another distress call from Concordia which was again under attack by another Fralthra and its wing of Drakhris. A sabotage prevented it from launching fighters. The two pilots assisted the ship until a fresh wave of Sarthas approached, Shadow was destroyed by them. Maverick landed on the Concordia[4] which then jumped to the Niven system, and he was reassigned to it.[5]
If the pilots fail to destroy the first Fraltha, the Concordia jumps to Ghorah Khar instead.[6]
In the non-canon losing scenario, Gwynedd is the last Human planet in the sector, and the Kilrathi made a major attempt to take the system. The Concordia arrives from Enigma and the missions parallel those at K'Tithrak Mang.
- While Doomsday and Banzai patrolled the left flank, Maverick and Jazz flew F-57A Sabres against a Grikath attack against the Concordia. They moved on against 2 Jalkehi-escorted Fralthra-class, after falling in a Drakhri ambush.[7]
- The Concordia prepared for the defense of the Station, hoping they could rout the Kilrathi from the Sector. Maverick and Jazz flew a patrol to clear the asteroid field. During the patrol, they encountered the stealth ships Blair had claimed earlier.[8]
- While Maverick was preparing for a patrol, Jazz's betrayal was discovered and he stole a Sabre to escape. Maverick caught up with him, destroyed his ship and tractored him back to the Concordia.[9]
- Five Sabres (Maverick, Banzai, Recon, Gill Man, Lady Blue) flew escort ahead before the main strike force led by Angel. Then they separated to different patrol roots. Maverick however went rogue and after eliminating a wing of Sarthas, he moved alone against the Kilrathi fleet. While the fighters were sent to Caernarvon, Prince Thrakhath nar Kiranka ordered the Hha'ifra to intercept Maverick. Maveric fought with Thrakhath in his modified Grikath, fought off the Jalkehi escort and moved against the Fralthra-class. [10]
