The Confederation Service Academy represents centuries of tradition and creates the spirit of the Confed Fleet. It is based in Houston.

Every senator is entitled to two cadets for patronage. A certain number of places are reserved for children of servicemen killed in service. A small number of places are dedicated to candidates outside the Terran Confederation.[1] Cadets study there for five years. Some cadets come from other colleges.[2]

In a semester before 2634 there was a cheating scandal which alerted the press.[2]

Around that year there were concerns about the necessity of the military and the Senate Appropriations Committee considered making cuts to the Academy. While the resources would be redirected to other projects, there were plans to downgrade it starting from 2635; college kids who would join the fleet would pass through only one year of training after college.[2] By 2634.120, the issue of Fleet Proceedings announced the shutting down of the Academy and a list of professors who took early retirements.[3]

Professor offices are arranged according to regulation: a desk, a holo display and comm unit, an office chair with padded arms, 2 armless chairs; but besides the military spartan style, there was a scholarly feel, like in small private colleges: bookcases with traditional books, and Winston Turner had one wall of his office covered with 2d prints (photographs).[2]
